FutureSoft's Database of Categorized Web Domains Passes 8 Million Domain Milestone Houston, TX-September 4, 2003 FutureSoft Inc. today announced that the Destinations Database, part of its Internet filtering and monitoring solution for the enterprise, DynaComm i:filter, now contains over 8 million records. This represents the largest database of categorized domains for any Web filtering solution available on the market. Rick Mansel, President and CEO of FutureSoft, said, “FutureSoft has always been committed to providing the most effective filtering solution available. The size of any Web filter’s database translates directly to its ability to accurately filter and report on Web access, and a database of over 8 million domains represents a significant leap forward in filtering effectiveness.” The 8 million pre-categorized domains represent potentially billions of categorized Web pages, covering everything from business sites to adult entertainment domains. To give some indication of just how large the database is, a viewer spending only 10 seconds per page and viewing for 8 hours a day, every day, would take over 25 years just to browse the Adult section alone. Organizations that deploy Web filters are typically looking to protect themselves against the problems of reduced employee productivity and wasted network bandwidth, in addition to the threat of hostile workplace lawsuits caused by employees viewing adult material online. Mansel continued, “We believe that the only effective way to manage Web access is to do so through a comprehensive database of categorized domains such as ours. On-the-fly attempts to categorize Web site content can be prone to unacceptably high rates of miscategorization.” DynaComm i:filter has been successfully deployed by a wide variety of organizations wishing to manage and report on Web access, from small schools to multi-national commercial enterprises. The accuracy and completeness of the database has often been a primary deciding factor in selecting DynaComm i:filter. Mansel concluded, “It’s important to our customers that our Web filter is effective in meeting their needs, and we’re pleased to continue to provide them with the very best filtering technology available.” About FutureSoft Founded in 1982, FutureSoft is an international software company focused on the development of Enterprise Content Security solutions.
