FutureSoft Releases Free LSP Manager Utility

FutureSoft, Inc., the Houston-based maker of the DynaComm i:series Enterprise Content Security software family, today announced the general availability of its DynaComm i:scan LSP Manager utility.

This free utility enables administrators to review and manage all Layered Service Providers loaded on a PC. Layered Service Providers, or LSPs, are software components used by Windows in handling communications to and from the network. However, they have recently been targeted by spyware authors looking to embed spyware functions deep within the operating system.

Once LSP spyware is loaded, it can be extremely difficult to identify and remove, because even normal use of the registry-editing tool, RegEdit, may not disclose the presence of such malware. What makes the infection even more alarming is the fact that as a loaded LSP, the spyware will be able to examine, and even modify, all network traffic to and from the system.
